SOUNDINGS is a landscape installation consisting of over 400 steel pipe 3” in diameter and 20’ high.  The pipe is set in an undulating and faceted landscape that explores multiple material experiences.  The pipes are ‘notched’ at various heights in order to produce sound as wind moves over the open top.  When moving through the pipe field at night, lights within the notches are triggered to visually show movement.  The steel pipes will be salvaged from the Gulf of Mexico oil fields.
